On 19 December, the Beijing local final of the 2016 CFA Institute Research Challenge, co-sponsored by the Beijing Society of CFA Institute, Puhui Finance, Iqianjin.com and Thomson Reuters, was held at the Beijing Grand Hyatt Hotel. Nankai team won the fourth prize, standing out of 8 prestigious colleges in Northern China involving Peking and Tsinghua etc., which is a highly remarkable achievement in Nankai’s participating history. Nankai team is consisted of 5 delegates from School of Finance, including 3 graduate students and 2 undergraduates, mentored by a faculty adviser Prof.Tu Hong from school of finance at Nankai and a professional research analyst Zhao Bei from ICBC Credit Suisse Asset Management Co. Ltd. The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition, first hosted by the New York Society of Security Analysts in 2002, and this year’s challenge is the 10-year anniversary competition. Up till now, the competition, which is wholly conducted in English, has grown to involve more than 15,000 students from over 1000 universities in more than 55 countries. The judges include experts on macro economy, equity research and financial advisory from different countries and regions. The research challenge is aimed at providing university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis.
