Professor YEH Chia-Ying obtained University of Alberta's Honorary Degree
October 18th, the famous specialist of Chinese Classical Poetry and Professor of Nankai University Yeh Chia-Ying obtained from the hands of the Board Chair Emeritus of University of Alberta Douglas Goss the certificate of Honorary Degree, becoming an Honorary Doctor of the School of Literature. This is the highest honor to prize Chia-Ying Chao-Yeh’s prominent contributions, such as her researches on Chinese Classical Poetry, her teaching and the exchanges between China and the West. The ceremony was hosted by Ralph Young, University of Alberta’s Chancellor.
That day, the Special Honorary Degree Conferral Ceremony to Professor Yeh Chia-Ying was held in the Oriental Art Building of Nankai University’s Balitai Campus.
The University of Alberta is located in Edmonton, capital of the Alberta Province in Canada; it was founded in 1908, it is one of the five biggest comprehensive scientific research university based in the country and it is also one of the members of the Canada Group of 13. In 2010, Nankai University and University of Alberta co-signed a cooperation agreement and a Ph.D Students Joint Scholarship Program agreement. In September 2012, President Gong Ke met University of Alberta’s President Indira Samarasekera while she was taking part in the Summer Davos Forum and Round Table Meeting of World University Presidents and they co-signed the Student Exchange Agreement.
